Where everyone belongs in the kitchen!

A hands-on cooking program designed to teach teenagers and adults essential life skills in the kitchen before they leave home for college, university, or independent living.
Classes will provide students with practical skills to prepare simple, affordable, and healthy meals they can cook confidently on their own!

The Back Home Kitchen is a safe, welcoming place where people can learn practical cooking skills through our hands-on cooking program. We are not a fancy culinary school; instead, we offer cooking classes for teenagers and adults alike, aiming to teach real people about real food!
Our mission is to inspire everyone, regardless of their skill level, to want to cook at home. If you have always wanted to learn how to cook and never knew where to start, you have already found exactly where you need to be.
Please be patient with us as we grow. In the beginning, we do not yet have a dedicated location and are working on ironing out the details!

Hi, I’m Dakoda but you can call me Koda. I created The Back Home Kitchen as a way to share my love of food with others! My whole life I have been blessed with opportunities to learn from amazing chefs and home cooks, so I never really knew how much of an advantage in the kitchen I had until I left home. I don't have any formal training as a chef, but I was fortunate enough to be raised by a red seal chef (my dad) and an amazing home cook (my mom), and I have a lot of passion for food. My goal is to spread that passion through hands-on cooking programs, especially cooking classes for teenagers, because I believe everyone can learn practical cooking skills. I just can't accept that some people think they can't cook! I want to be the guy that shows you it can actually be a lot of fun and very satisfying to make amazing food at home!

If you'd like to become a sponsor for our hands-on cooking program, please donate here: https://gofund.me/46b24f43b. All donations will go towards purchasing equipment and items to start our cooking classes for teenagers as soon as possible! We also accept physical donations; if you have kitchenware in good condition that you would like to donate, please don't hesitate to reach out! We are currently seeking: cutting boards, chef knives, pots, pans, baking sheets, measuring utensils, reusable dining sets (cups, plates, bowls, cutlery, mugs), table cloths, and aprons to help our students learn practical cooking skills!
Have an idea for a class, such as a hands-on cooking program for teenagers that you'd like to see next? Want to book a private in-home event to learn practical cooking skills? Please do not hesitate to reach out! If you have questions about the cooking classes for teenagers and the opportunities available, feel free to send us a message. We will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you very much, and please spread the word! ❤️
